Our Story
From a London stall to a Himalayan workshop
We started with a simple frustration: travel gear that looked good but cost the earth. So we went looking for a better way.
The Beginning
We weren't looking to start a brand
TheProudLondon began on a market stall, selling a handful of hemp bags we'd carried back from Nepal. They sold out by lunchtime — not because of marketing, but because people could feel the difference the moment they held one.
That difference is craft. Each bag was made by hand, from a plant that asks almost nothing of the land it grows on, by artisans whose skill has been passed down for generations.
We're not really in the backpack business. We're here to keep a craft alive, to prove that the most sustainable choice can also be the most beautiful one.

“We measure a bag not by how new it looks, but by how many journeys it can carry before it's passed on.”

What We Stand For
Three things we won't compromise on
Natural by default
If we can make it from a plant, we do. Hemp, organic cotton, brass and leather — nothing synthetic for its own sake.
Made by hand
Real people, named and fairly paid, making real things slowly and well.
Built to outlast trends
We design for decades. Repairs over replacements, always.
